This 14 day learning community takes place in Bali, Indonesia with an emphasis on cultural and customs and adventure. During our stay we’ll explore the local history, artistry, agricultural traditions, nature and even try our hand at surfing! One of the highlights of our Bali – Culture, Surf and Adventure – 14 Day Teen Learning Community is a 3 day excursion to the Komodo National Park located in the Lesser Sunda Islands which is a UNESCO world heritage site. There we’ll see the world’s largest lizard, the Komodo Dragons in their natural environment! Join us for an unforgettable nature adventure!

Many of our meals will be a blend of locally prepared dishes and self catered foods and snacks. Breakfasts are provided by our hotel in both Ubud and Kuta and will be a mix of fresh fruit, juice, eggs and local breads. Lunches will be a combination of local dishes, salads, fish and other Balinese flavors. On the days we have full-day outings, we’ll either prepare and packed lunches for our trip or eat at local ‘warungs’ (restaurants) near the attractions. Dinners will be a combination of self-prepared meals and meals from local restaurants. On our 3-day trip to Komodo Island, our meals will be catered on the boat. We will make every effort to accommodate everyone’s diet restrictions including having vegetarian and gluten-free options. Please indicate any special needs on your application.
During the Bali – Surfing and Culture – 14 Day Teen Learning Community, we will stay in several locations including hostels, hotels and guest houses in Ubud and Kuta. Normally there will be two or three people per room.
What to Bring?
You’ll be gone for a two weeks. For those of you who haven’t traveled for long periods of time, we’ve prepared this list in case you might need some assistance with deciding what you should pack. So here it is, our packing list ‘suggestions‘! Our recommendation to you is not to over do it. You’ll have to haul everything you pack around initially, and there are weight restrictions through all airlines. Also, keep in mind you will be living in shared space. There will be laundry available, and you will be able to purchase replacement shampoos, lotions, etc. during the trip, so no need to haul around ‘family size’ bottles of anything.
NOTE: Remember the list below is a suggested list! Feel free to modify, based on your own needs.
1 light weight cotton long sleeve shirt or cover up
1 pair of light weight pants (I would recommend wearing this on the plane)
4-6 T-shirts and / or tank tops
2 -4 bathing suits
1 sunhat with a brim
personal items / toiletries
tooth paste & toothbrush
shampoo & conditioner
Thai outlet convertor
copy of passport
anything you will need to lead a session
tiny first aid kit
small journal or notepad and pens
costume, wigs, funky hats, etc. (if you are into that sort of thing)
