And a 5, 6, 7, 8! Rehearsals Are In Full Swing! – TEDx Prep

The slides are prepared, the coaches have been contacted, and the outfits have been picked. I’m pretty sure I haven’t heard any words out of their mouths other than their speech for the past week.

Rehearsing has been a total reality check for the both of them. To memorize a 15 minute talk in a little over a week, every moment is consumed by it. And this is what it takes.  They are constantly listening to recordings of them giving it, writing it out on flashcards, reciting, and whispering it under their breath. They’re rehearsing over lunch, on the train, walking to meetings; it’s all they’re doing.

Miro is really doing well memorizing. He’s able to give the speech and only look down at his notecards a few times during the whole thing. His confidence is soaring, and his enunciation is clear. Lainie on the other hand, while extremely passionate about the talk, and the script writer, is struggling with the memorization process. Since Miro has about 60% of the talk, they’re feeling pretty good about the process, but there is still a lot of polishing to be done.

Soon they will start working on the gestures, the movements, and the placements for the talk. How they will act on stage, how to best engage their audience and put them at ease, it’s an art, and one they will need to master fast! Just on Sunday alone they ran through the talk 10 times in a row! Talk about dedication!
